ACLS Mourns Robert W. Fogel
We are saddened to learn of the passing of Robert W. Fogel, an economic historican at the University of Chicago and Nobel Prize winner. Fogel was a pioneer in the field of cliometrics, bringing modern analytical and statistical techniques into the study of history. His Charles Homer Haskins Lecture, delivered at the ACLS Annual Meeting in 1996, traced the course of his professional concerns as it was shaped by his wider intellectual and creative interests, his family and mentors, and by currents of argument within the academy and society at large. The lecture is available here.
