Nana Aba Appiah Amfo F'09 Appointed University of Ghana’s First Female Acting Vice-Chancellor


Nana Aba Appiah Amfo, a 2009 African Humanities Program Postdoctoral Fellow and the chair of the Steering Committee of the African Humanities Association, has been appointed acting Vice-Chancellor at the University of Ghana, effective August 1, 2021. She is the first woman to serve in this position.

Amfo is a Professor of Linguistics at the University of Ghana and prior to her new role, the Pro-Vice-Chancellor responsible for Students and Academic Affairs. She received her PhD in Linguistics from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology.
