Annual Meetings

The 2019 ACLS Annual Meeting was held on April 26-27 at the New York Marriott Downtown.

Pauline Yu opened the meeting on Friday with the President's Report to the Council. Joy Connolly, incoming president of ACLS, then joined her in conversation.  

Earlier, during breakfast, attendees engaged in informal table discussions on 1) diverse career pathways, 2) time to degree, 3) challenges facing leaders of learned societies, and 4) mentoring faculty of color.

  • Emerging Themes and Methods of Humanities Research: Discussion with ACLS Fellows
  • Luncheon speaker Jon Parrish Peede, chairman of the National Endowment for the Humanities
  • A panel discussion presented by The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation on 50 years of scholarly communication
  • The 2019 Charles Homer Haskins Prize Lecture on "A Life of Learning" to be delivered by Lynn Hunt, Distinguished Research Professor at the University of California, Los Angeles, followed by a reception and dinner in her honor.
