The project examines the junctures of the Romanian, German, and Hungarian literatures of Romania since the end of the Second World War in an effort to foreground the interrelationships between these literatures. It considers the shortcomings of the division of literatures (and cultural identities) into national groupings by focusing on instances of influence across languages that have given shape to identities transcending national borders. This study aims to further understanding of the cultures of the region as products of interaction between different linguistic groups. In doing so, it challenge the persistent study of the cultures of this region of Europe along national lines, an approach that validates models of identity rooted in divisiveness.
