Megan French-Marcelin
Position Description
For nearly 100 years, the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) has served as the nation's guardian of liberty, working daily in courts, legislatures, and communities to defend and preserve the individual rights and liberties that the Constitution and laws of the United States guarantee everyone in this country. The ACLU is a nationwide organization that fights tirelessly in all 50 states, Puerto Rico, and Washington, DC, for the principle that every individual’s rights must be protected equally under the law, regardless of race, religion, gender, age, sexual orientation, disability, or national origin.
The Policy Research Manager will anchor the ACLU’s policy research program by deepening the use of policy and social science research to enhance the organization’s advocacy to an even greater degree. The Policy Research Manager will spearhead this effort and will serve as the organization’s internal expert providing the substantive leadership to reframe, refine, seek out, and advise on the most promising research questions that will advance ACLU’s civil liberties agenda. The ACLS Public Fellow will provide supporting evidence and persuasive data to support top priority policy goals, which include ending mass incarceration, privacy in the digital age, protecting the right to vote, comprehensive immigration reform, access to abortion, and LGBTQ rights.
