The African Humanities Association (AHA), the learned society and successor organization of the African Humanities Program, has announced its new executives. The following members were elected at the inaugural meeting of the Executive Committee of the AHA on March 23, 2022:
- President: Nana Aba Appiah Amfo F’09
- Vice President: Bola Udegbe
- Treasurer: Sister Dominic Dipio F’09
- Secretary: Irikidzayi Manase F’10
- Additional Members: Herbert Makoye and Sani Aliyu
- Co-opted ex-officio member and Transition Coordinator: Frederick Hendricks
Since 2009, the African Humanities Program (AHP) has awarded fellowships to over 450 early career scholars in Ghana, Nigeria, South Africa, Tanzania, and Uganda, with the generous support of the Carnegie Corporation of New York. The momentum generated by AHP continues to build a vibrant humanities community on the continent through the African Humanities Association. The final awardees of the African Humanities Program Postdoctoral Fellowships will be announced this year.
The African Humanities Series is a book-publishing project of the African Humanities Program of the American Council of Learned Societies.
These annual events celebrate recent research supported by AHP and to plan for a future, African-directed AHP.
