James H. Averill
James H. Averill retired in 2007 as partner from Wellington Management, an investment counsel firm based in Boston. He served in Wellington’s Radnor, PA office as a security analyst and portfolio manager on the Windsor Fund team for 23 years, specializing in financial companies. In a prior career, he taught English literature at Princeton University from 1976-1983 and was author of Wordsworth and the Poetry of Human Suffering (Cornell, 1980) and editor of Wordsworth’s An Evening Walk (Cornell UP, 1984) in the Cornell Wordsworth series. He currently serves on the boards of the Foreign Policy Research Institute and the Rosenbach Museum and Library. He was formerly treasurer of the Free Library of Philadelphia Foundation and on the board of the National Humanities Center. A graduate of Yale College (1969), he earned a PhD in English from Cornell (1976) and an MBA from Columbia (1986).
