ACLS Community Members Sign Open Letter In Defense of AP African American Studies

Hundreds of African American Studies higher education faculty and administrators recently signed on to a statement expressing concern about the future of their field in light of recent efforts by the governor of Florida and his administration questioning the value of such knowledge and learning. Among the signatories is Dr. David Canton, Director of African American Studies Program and Associate Professor of History at the University of Florida. Canton will be among the featured speakers at the 2023 ACLS Annual Meeting in Philadelphia, April 27 and 28.
