Ozioma Onuzulike F’11 Opens Solo Exhibition at MARC STRAUS Gallery

On September 10, 2023, Ozioma Onuzulike F’11 opened a solo exhibition at MARC STRAUS Gallery in New York, NY, running through October 29, 2023. A ceramics artist, renowned poet, and a leading figure in the contemporary ceramic art scene in Africa, Onuzulike is presenting works from four series: Palm Kernel Shell Beads, Yam, Honeycomb, and Chainmail. The works address historical and contemporary challenges across Africa and the globe, focusing on colonialism, migration, and global warming.
Onuzulike was awarded a 2011 African Humanities Program Postdoctoral Fellowship for his project “Modern Nigerian Pottery: A Study of Historical Developments Since 1904.”
Amanda Tumusiime, 2013 African Humanities Program Postdoctoral Fellow, has been appointed Dean of the Margaret Trowel School of Industrial and Fine Art at Makerere University.
On February 11, 2020, Nobel Laureate in Literature Wole Soyinka, gave a passionate keynote address at the Fourth Regional Assembly of the African Humanities Program in Abuja, Nigeria, sponsored by ACLS.
